Who is suitable for semi/ permanent makeup treatments?

Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) is generally safe for most people, but there are certain contraindications or conditions where it may not be suitable.

1. Skin Conditions
Active acne, eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis in the area to be treated can cause complications or affect the final results.
Keloid scars or hypertrophic scarring in the area being treated can also pose a risk.

2. Allergies
People with known allergies to pigments or anesthetics may have adverse reactions.
Hypersensitivity to makeup or cosmetics in general should be taken into consideration.

3. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding
Hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy can affect how the pigments heal, and some anesthetics may not be safe for use.

4. Blood Disorders
Conditions like hemophilia or blood clotting disorders (including taking blood-thinning medications) can increase the risk of bleeding or bruising during the procedure.

5. Autoimmune Conditions
Conditions such as lupus or other immune system-related diseases might affect healing or increase the risk of complications.

6. Diabetes
Uncontrolled diabetes may impair the body’s ability to heal properly, making it riskier for those with the condition.

7. Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)
Active cold sores or HSV outbreaks near the treatment area can result in further infection or complications.

8. Recent Cosmetic Procedures
If someone has had recent Botox, filler treatments, or facial surgeries, it may not be safe to proceed with SPMU immediately, as healing could be compromised or interfere with results. Must wait 4 weeks.

9. Tanning/Recent Sunburn
Excessive tanning or recent sunburn can cause the skin to be too sensitive, increasing the risk of irritation or pigment fading unevenly.

10. Medications
Some medications like Accutane, corticosteroids, or chemotherapy drugs may interfere with healing or cause excessive scarring.

It’s important to consult with a qualified professional before deciding on semi-permanent makeup to assess individual health and safety concerns.
